G 3 6, <br />identified in the "Inventory of Sites of Cultural, Historic, <br />Recreational, Biological, & Geological Significance in.the <br />Unincorporated Portions of Orange County" and the "Orange <br />County Inventory of Natural Areas" (hereinafter referred to <br />as "natural and cultural resources") <br />- development of slopes greater than 25% <br />Preparation of an Environmental Assessment <br />The EA would consist of a form supplied by the Planning Department, and <br />completed by the applicant. Additional information would be provided <br />on certain aspects of the project. This information would be used by <br />staff to evaluate impacts of the development, determine if further <br />documentation would be required, and determine if there are additional <br />permits required by State or Federal Agencies. <br />The proposed format and content of the Environmental Assessment is <br />attached (page 32). Most of the information about the project would <br />already be known by the applicant. Planning staff would assist in the <br />completion of form as needed. It is not expected that completion of <br />the EA would involve any significant expense. <br />Review Process for EA <br />The EA would be distributed to appropriate state or local agencies upon <br />acceptance. Action by the Planning Department would occur within 14 <br />days of the acceptance date. The Planning Department will either issue <br />a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), or require preparation of <br />and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). In either case, the <br />applicant will be informed of any additional permits or standards <br />identified during the review process which may be required by state or <br />other local agencies. <br />If a FONSI is issued, there are no further review requirements. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT <br />The EIS would provide a detailed discussion of environmental impacts <br />and alternatives to the proposed development project. <br />Projects Requiring Preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement <br />An EIS will be required for a project only if: <br />1) it does not meet any of the exemptions; AND <br />2) preparation of an EA was required; AND <br />3) it involves any of the following: <br />- NC Mining Permit <br />0 <br />0 <br />
