NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING <br />ON <br />PROPOSED ORANGE COUNTY THOROUGHFARE PLAN <br />AND <br />ON PROPOSED REVISIONS TO THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, <br />ZONING ORDINANCE, SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS, AND <br />PRIVATE ROAD STANDARDS <br />FOR ORANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Pursuant to the requirements of the General Statutes of <br />North Carolina, Chapter 153A, Articles 6, 18, 240, 323, and <br />343; Article 20, Sections 20.5 and 20.6 of the Orange County <br />Zoning Ordinance; and Section VIII of the Orange County <br />Subdivision Regulations, notice is hereby given that a public <br />hearing will be held in the Superior Courtroom of the Orange <br />County Courthouse (New), 106 East Margaret Lane, <br />Hillsborough,'North Carolina, on Wednesday, May, 16, 1990 at <br />7:30 p.m. for the purpose of giving all interested citizens <br />an opportunity to speak for or against the following items: <br />ORANGE LO_U_NTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAW <br />The proposed amendments to the Comprehensive Plan are as <br />follows: <br />1. Amend Section 2.6 Transportation of the Land Use Element <br />of the Comprehensive Plan by replacing the current <br />highway classifications of Interstate, Arterial, and <br />Collector with the new classifications of Principal <br />Arterial, Minor Arterial, Collector, Major Local and <br />Minor Local. A new sub - section defining a Collector/ <br />Subcollector Road System is also proposed. <br />2." Adopt the Orange gqunty Thoroughfare Plan as the <br />Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan The <br />existing Hillsborough Thoroughfare Plan and applicable <br />portions of the proposed thoroughfare plans for the <br />Durham- Chapel Hill - Carrboro urban Area and Alamance <br />County Urban Area have been merged with a County <br />specific road classification system for the rural areas <br />- of the County. <br />ra� <br />
