Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278- <br />Dear Mr. Lloyd: <br />The Orange County Assesor's Office posted a letter to <br />my husband and me on Dec. 18th, 1989 regarding the Ad Valorem <br />taxation of our 1981 Datsun. <br />Firstly, it was never our intention to not pay Orange County <br />tax on our vehicle and we apologize for our error. <br />we responded to your overdue notice, however, by <br />posting our response in the drive -thru mailbox at the <br />Estes post office in Chapel Hill, we erred on the postmark. <br />Although we (I) put the letter in the box that morning of the <br />18th in order to catch the noon collection, the letter was not <br />postmarked in Chapel Hill at the Estes station. The letter was <br />postmarked in Raleigh six days later! <br />Although I work and have a toddler, I visited the Tax Collector's <br />office and paid the tax on the vehicle but not the $100.00 fine. <br />I am asking you to waive the fine aside, and if you are personally <br />unable to do this, to schedule me for a hearing in order to ask <br />that the fine be waived aside or at least drastically reduced. <br />My actions, documented as much as possible, point to my intention <br />to pay the vehicle tax. <br />Thank you for considering this matter. <br />Very 4ruely xours� ,c1 . <br />Medora Ebersole <br />re: VINO JN1HT05S8BX135051 1981 Datsun, style SW, $1,600. /value <br />
