These are competitive funds so it <br />is not guaranteed that funds will be awarded. <br />BACKGROUND: This is an application to apply for funds to augment the <br />annualized level of funding by ACTION ($26,010) which has <br />remained unchanged for several years. The additional funds <br />would impact two areas: (1) Initiate a program of National <br />Significance ($5,126) a literacy program of senior citizens <br />who read to at -risk children at day care centers and pre- <br />schools. (2) Cover administrative costs ($4,955) (Volunteer <br />Support Expenses) of which $2,982 would be used to reduce <br />county funds for professional staff benefits expenses and the <br />balance ($1,973) for increasing the part -time clerical /data <br />entry position for the new national significant program. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve RSVP application and authorize Chair to sign <br />application. <br />
