FIKES <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Chapel Hill - 967- 9251/968 -4501 <br />PURPOSE: To execute Change Order #1 to the Rencher Street <br />Public Facilities Improvements Contract with Billings <br />and Garrett, Inc. for $14,125.67. <br />BACKGROUND: On January 8, 1990, the County awarded a contract to <br />Billings and Garrett, Inc. of Raleigh, N.C. for <br />$282,083 for public facilities improvements in the <br />Rencher Street CDBG Area. Due to unforeseen <br />regulatory requirements and site conditions revealed <br />after the award of the contract, it has become <br />necessary to make design changes. More specifically, <br />field changes were necessary to ensure proper sewer <br />installation and other construction and to comply with <br />the related regulatory requirements. <br />The cost of these changes is reflected in Change <br />Order #1 and total $14,125.67. The Change order <br />elements and costs have been reviewed and verified by <br />the County Engineer. <br />Execution of this Change Order will allow construction <br />to continue according to schedule as well as allow <br />compliance with all related regulatory requirements. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve execution of Change Order #1 with Billings and <br />Garrett for $14,125.67 and authorize the Chair to sign <br />the document on behalf of the Board. <br />
