PAGE 3 <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, According to the latest population figures, there <br />are more than 10,000 persons over 60 years of age <br />in Orange County; and, <br />WHEREAS, Orange County is proud of the older adults who <br />live here and wishes to show appreciation for what <br />they have contributed to their County, State and <br />Nation; and, - <br />WHEREAS, All orange County citizens enjoy the fruits of <br />older persons and their labors and are inspired to <br />continue to make orange County a good place in <br />which to live; and, <br />WHEREAS, Orange County wishes to set aside a special month <br />for recognition of the older segment of its <br />citizenry; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, We, the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />join the Governor of North Carolina and the <br />President of the United States in Proclaiming May, <br />1990 as Older Americans Month, <br />AND FURTHER, do encourage all citizens to join us in honoring <br />our older Americans. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />ADDED ITEM <br />S. RESOLUTION = SEVENMILE CREEK RECLASSIFICATION <br />County Engineer Paul Thames made reference to a <br />letter received from DEM about the reclassification of Seven <br />Mile Creek. The letter indicated that the process for <br />reclassification starts with the County issuing a resolution. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded <br />by Commissioner Hartwell to adopt the resolution regarding <br />the reclassification of the Seven Mile Creek Watershed and <br />authorize the Chair to sign. The Resolution is stated below: <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING THE RECLASSIFICATION <br />OF THE <br />SEVEN MILE CREEK WATERSHED <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of the Environment, <br />Health and Natural Resources, Division of Environmental <br />Management has a watershed classification system in effect at <br />the present time to insure the protection of existing and <br />future water supplies and watersheds; and <br />WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina has requested that local <br />governments express their interest in having watersheds on <br />which they rely for water supply classified at the highest <br />Possible level; and, <br />WHEREAS, the County of Orange has enacted certain measures <br />and ordinances for the protection of all watersheds within <br />its jurisdiction; and, <br />
