Hoffman appeared before <br />the Board of County Commissioners to identify a <br />problem with the zoning on his property in Bingham <br />Township. The Commissioners scheduled a special public <br />hearing for Tuesday, May 1, 1990, to correct an error <br />in the Zoning Atlas. <br />Zoning was originally applied in Bingham Township on <br />September 2, 1981. At that time an Existing <br />Commercial (EC -5) designation was approved for an <br />existing auto paint and body shop on the north side of <br />Old Greensboro Road (SR 1005) approximately one half <br />mile east of White Cross Road (SR 1951). The subject <br />property is also known as lot 30 on tax map 35 of <br />Bingham Township. The surrounding land uses are <br />residential, and the adjacent zoning is AR. <br />In 1981 the EC -5 zoning lot was drawn incorrectly on <br />the Zoning Atlas. The auto body shop is on the western <br />portion of the property. The zoning lot was shown 243 <br />feet east of the body shop on an undeveloped part of <br />
