There is only $12,000 available this year <br />to provide assistance for a growing need. <br />C. Chore Service which provides assistance in the home. <br />With the recent contracting of chore to outside <br />agencies by the Department of Social Services, the <br />amount of service has decreased due to increased <br />contract costs. <br />D. Horde Delivery Services for such items as medications <br />and groceries for the frail, homebound, or sick. <br />elderly. <br />E. Care Management to coordinate and monitor an array of <br />LTC services on behalf of the client. <br />F. Guardianship service to handle various financial, <br />(tax, insurance) and legal matters on behalf of the <br />clients who need it. <br />G. Minor Home Repair and Maintenance Service such as <br />providing or arranging minor home repairs in the <br />event of health and safety related problems. <br />H. An Information Sank. for help in locating <br />private home maintenance providers. <br />4. To encourage the development of political action efforts <br />On Long Term Care that would sensitize the community by: <br />A. Holding candidate forums (local and national ,_office) <br />to learn positions on long term care issues. <br />D. Writing letters to the editor or submitting guest <br />articles. <br />C. Urging civic or religious groups to discuss LTC <br />issues. <br />D. Calling or participating on radio or TV talk shows. <br />E. preparing position papers. <br />S. To promote the establishment and design of affordable <br />housing (both public and private) that would provide <br />assisted living (help with yard work, household tasks, <br />or personal care). There is a need for housing with <br />design features that take into account vision, dexte -ity, <br />and mobility limitations over time. <br />6. To explore and develop ways to enhance the role and status <br />of paid caregivers to make the jobs more attractive, <br />despite a declining pool of service personnel. <br />
