22 <br />The Town of Carrboro Board of Aldermen duly adopted the 1990 -1991 <br />Transportation Improvements Program on March 13, 1990. <br />TOWN OF CARRBORO <br />1990-1991 <br />TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM <br />1. Widen NC 54 to a four lane boulevard facility from 15 -501 to <br />the intersection of NC 54 and Old Fayetteville Road. This <br />project is currently included in the State TIP as project U- <br />2003. The Town continues its support of this project. <br />URBAN <br />1. Widen the following streets with curb & gutter and bike <br />lanes: <br />Hillsborough Road from West Main Street to Lorraine <br />Street <br />West Main Street from Hillsborough Road to NC 54 <br />North Greensboro Street from Estes Drive to <br />Hillsborough Road <br />This project is currently included in the State TIP as <br />project U -2002. The Town continues its support of this <br />project. <br />2. Widen Smith Level Road to five lanes from NC 54 to Rock <br />Haven Road with bikelanes and grade for sidewalks. <br />3. Widen Estes Drive to three lanes from the Carrboro Town <br />Limits to North Greensboro Street, and include bike lanes, <br />and a right turn lane. <br />4. Widen Jones Ferry Road to five lanes from Old Fayetteville <br />Road to NC 54 and include bikelanes and grade for sidewalks. <br />5. Improvement of downtown circulation patterns. <br />6. Construct a bridge over Morgan Creek on the Old Fayetteville <br />Road Extension as part of the Laurel Hill Parkway and <br />include sidewalks and provisions for bicycle travel. <br />STATE SECONDARY <br />1. Widen the bridge on Smith Level Road over Morgan Creek to <br />five lanes and include sidewalks and provisions for bicycle <br />travel. This project is currently included in the State TIP <br />as project B -2159. The Town continues its support of this <br />project. <br />2. Redesign and improve the intersection of Old NC 86 (SR 1009) <br />and Old Fayetteville Road (SR 1937). <br />
