3 <br /> 1 The proposed route of the pipeline will plow through Haliwa, Saponi, Meherrin, Coharie, <br /> 2 Lumbee and Tuscarora lands in NC (5 of NC's 9 tribes). It also will impact 7 tribes in Virginia. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 It is proposed to go through many wetlands that our ancestors hid out in during colonial days to <br /> 5 escape slavery, would take land from our elders using condemnation (eminent domain), and the <br /> 6 pipeline in some places will be within several hundred feet of trailers and homes that house our <br /> 7 elderly and children (especially in Pembroke, NC). <br /> 8 <br /> 9 The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will make their decision on or before October 19th <br /> 10 to approve or not approve this project.
