ATTACHMENT 1 <br /> A 4,, • '- <br /> fir. <br /> f- <br /> wr OUTSIDE AGENCIES <br /> y FUNDING REQJESTS <br /> COUNTY MANAGER RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Each fiscal year,non-profit organizations that deliver vital <br /> J community services have the ability to apply for program funding <br /> from Orange County.In December 2016,the Orange County Board <br /> 44 ''' of Commissioners adopted a funding target of 1.2 percent of the <br /> . t; <br /> county's general fund expenditures,less the appropriation for <br /> ' t education expenses,for the purpose of funding outside agency <br /> • > ' `" operations.Historically,the county had a funding target of 1.0 <br /> i`� `" percent. <br /> Recipients are required to submit written progress reports that <br /> include:goals,description of activities/challenges,revisions of <br /> + r' timelines/budgets,and other relevant information. <br /> 4. <br /> • <br /> J'' Funded projects will be monitored for progress and performance, <br /> financial and administrative management,and compliance with <br /> the terms of Performance/Development Agreement(s). Monitoring <br /> may involve site and/or office visit(s). <br /> Applications are reviewed by staff members for completeness and <br /> ;;i^� eligibility.The applications are presented to a specific application <br /> review group,depending on the funding source.The review <br /> = group makes a recommendation,based on available funding and <br /> — the priorities identified by the county.The recommendation is <br /> �� ' _ � presented to the Board of County Commissioners,which approves <br /> — - the final allocations. <br /> For fiscal year 2017-18,Orange County received applications <br /> from 60 agencies.The requests totaled$1,887,153,an increase of <br /> $710,390 above 2016-17.The county manager's recommended <br /> budget includes grants for 57 agencies with a total of$1,353,401 <br /> in funding,an increase of$212,648 from the 2016-17 Approved <br /> Budget. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br />
