Communities should have transportation options that <br /> allow individuals to get from place to place easily and affordably. An age-friendly community will have: <br /> • Affordable rates for public and private transportation options; <br /> • Frequent and reliable service; <br /> • Service to high priority destinations (e.g., hospitals, parks, shopping, etc.); <br /> • Accessible vehicles; <br /> • Specialized services for people with disabilities; <br /> • Priority seating for older adults; <br /> • Courteous transit workers and competent drivers; <br /> • Safe and comfortable vehicles; <br /> • Convenient stops and stations; <br /> • Easy to understand information about public transportation; <br /> • Volunteer drivers; <br /> • Well-maintained roads and regulated traffic; and <br /> • Plentiful parking. <br /> lo AP 2 I;; Expand services and improve infrastructure for safe, accessible, and affordable travel <br /> within the community. <br /> "bjective 2 :I Expand availability and improve transportation options for older adults. <br /> 2, y mm ; Increase the capacity of the current Volunteer Driver Program. <br /> INDICATORS <br /> 2.1.1a. Funding is maintained for the Volunteer Driver Program. <br /> 2.1.1b. Increased number of volunteer drivers. <br /> 2.1.1c. Increased ridership. <br /> 2.1.1d. Scheduling software is evaluated and purchased. <br /> 2.1.1e. Expanded range of services is made available, including weekly errand trips and same day <br /> service. <br /> 2.1.1f.Volunteer Driver Program is included in the Orange County Comprehensive Transportation Plan. <br /> RESPONSIBLE AGENCIES: OCDOA, with support from OPT <br /> 2, y mm . Pursue solutions to meet the need for increased transit service hours and <br /> access to more destinations. <br /> INDICATORS <br /> 2.1.2a.A needs assessment is conducted to define the needs and gaps in service hours and destinations. <br /> 2.1.2b.
