2 <br /> • In 2015 the School of Government started providing a 1.5 hour webinar that the Tax <br /> office in turn provided to Board of E&R members. The webinar is still available to the Tax <br /> office. <br /> • At the E&R organizational meeting each year, the Tax office invites all members of the <br /> E&R Board and staff is available to answer any questions they may have. <br /> • New appointees receive the same training as seasoned members, and the training <br /> session this year may be longer due to the increased number of appeals due to the <br /> revaluation. By statute, Dwane Brinson serves as Clerk to the Board of E&R. The Board <br /> of E&R hears evidence presented by both parties and adjudicates. <br /> • The County Attorney office is available for any additional training, to answer questions, <br /> etc. <br /> PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS: have been sent out periodically since last Fall in an <br /> effort to recruit new applicants. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Each member will be paid $75.00 per meeting attended, and the Chair <br /> will be paid $100.00 per meeting attended. The funds are included in the Tax Administrators <br /> budget. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: Enable Full Civic Participation. Ensure that Orange County <br /> residents are able to engage government through voting and volunteering by eliminating <br /> disparities in participation and barriers to participation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board consider making 10 <br /> appointments to the Board of Equalization and Review. <br />
