4 <br /> Efland Volunteer Fire Department <br /> 6. The Efland Volunteer Fire Department has requested a portion ($80,000) of the <br /> district's available unassigned fund balance to be used to help offset the cost of <br /> replacing its twenty-six year old Tanker totaling $292,000. With this appropriation, <br /> approximately $5,350 remains in the district's unassigned fund balance. This budget <br /> amendment provides for the appropriation of $80,000 from the district's fund balance <br /> for the above stated purposes. (See Attachment 1, column 6 and Attachment 3) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> New Hope Volunteer Fire Department <br /> 7. The New Hope Volunteer Fire Department has requested a portion ($32,000) of the <br /> district's available unassigned fund balance to be used to install an exhaust extraction <br /> system at Station #2 to improve the air quality for the volunteers, paid staff, and <br /> emergency Services staff that are stationed there. This system will reduce hazardous <br /> vehicle exhaust emissions in the fire station when vehicles leave and enter the <br /> building. With this appropriation, approximately $67,750 remains in the district's <br /> unassigned fund balance. This budget amendment provides for the appropriation of <br /> $32,000 from the district's fund balance for the above stated purposes. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 7 and Attachment 4) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds and increases the FY <br /> 2016-17 General Fund budget by $919,598, and the Fire Districts Fund budget by $112,000. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board approve budget ordinance <br /> amendments for fiscal year 2016-17. <br />
