I received a <br /> master of public health degree from UC Berkeley, and became active in county wide injury <br /> prevention strategies by managing a local coalition. I am currently completing my doctoral in <br /> nursing practice at Duke University, and have broadened my understanding of health care <br /> access and policy issues on a local, state and federal level. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I believe that both my recent academic and 34 years of experience in health care have given me <br /> a deep understanding of our current health care challenges including health care access issues, <br /> health education,and prevention challenges presenting county government today. I have actively <br /> and effectively participated in board work, and am a positive contributor. The ability to carefully <br /> weigh and analyze issues is a personal strength that I believe may assist me to be an effective <br /> advisor to a Board of Health. I believe in Orange County and its ability to make decisions to <br /> improve the health and well being of its residents. <br />
