~-D
Figure 1 -Age-Adjusted Incidence Rates 1990-2003
Orange County and North Carolina
Five-year (1999-2003) incidence rates were also computed and the results were similar to those found
for the period 1990-2003. None of these rates were found to be significantly higher than North Carolina
rates3.Trends in cancer incidence rates were also examined for all cancers combined. Trends in age-
adjusted rates for all cancers combined are presented in Figure 2 below. There does not appear to be
a temporal pattern in the rates.
Figure 2 -Age-Adjusted Incidence Rates by Year
All Cancers Combined, Orange County and North Carolina
soo -
500
°0 400 - ---
0
0
`m 300 - - ----- ---
a
~ --
200 -
--+-Qrange
100 -ta-North Carolina
0
~9 ~~ ~9 ~9 ^9 ~9 ~9 ~9 ~~ ~9 ti~ ti~ ti~ ti~
Year
95"/" confidence interv:ils mere calculated For the age adjusted incidence rates, using the method described in Fa}' IVIP, Feuer EJ
Confidence intervals Eor directl}' standardized rates: r1 method based on the Gamma distribution Statistics in IVfedicine
1997;16:791-807
