33 <br />27. IN WHAT YEAR WAS YOUR CANCER DIAGNOSED? <br />Record year person was diagnosed with cancer. <br />28. WHAT TYPE OF CANCER WAS DIAGNOSED? <br />Wait for interviewee to reply before prompting with types of cancer. If you need to prompt the <br />interviewee, use the following cancers and descriptions: <br />Bladder Cancer found in the tissues of the bladder, The bladder is located in the <br /> lower art of the abdomen. <br />Brain Mali pant (cancerous) tumor found in the brain. <br />Breast Cancer found in or near the breasts. Can be dia nosed in women and men. <br />Colon and Rectal Cancer found in the colon (large intestine) or rectum (anus) or both, <br />(Colorectal) <br />Esophageal Cancer affecting the esophagus, which is the tube that carries food and <br /> li uids from the throat to the stomach. <br />Kidney (Renal) Cancer affecting one or both of the kidneys. The kidney is a small organ in <br /> the lower art of the abdomen <br />Leukemia Leukemia is cancer that be ins in blood cells. <br />Liver (Including Cancer found in the tissues of the liver.. The liver is behind the ribs on the <br />Intrahepatic Bile right side of the abdomen. <br />Duct) <br />Lung (Including Cancer found in the tissues of the lung. <br />Bronchial) <br />Lymphoma (Non- Cancer found in the lymphatic system or lymph node tissues. <br />Hod Icin) <br />Multi le Myeloma An incurable, but treatable cancer of the lasma cell. <br />Ovarian Cancer found in the female's ovaries. Ovaries are located in the reproductive <br /> s stem. <br />Pancreatic Cancer cells are found in the tissues of the ancreas. <br />Prostate Cancer found in the tissues of the male's rostate land. <br />Skin -Basal Cell The most common skin cancer. Cancer lesions are often found on the face, <br /> neck, hands, or other arts of the bod that have been ex osed to the sun <br />Slcin -Melanoma The most serious form of skin cancer. Cancer begins in the cells of the skin <br /> called melanoc tes. The melanoc to roduces skin i mentation. <br />Slcin -Squamous Skin cancer that arises on the upper level of the skin. Usually in areas that are <br />Cell exposed to sun, Squamous cell carcinomas are most commonly found on the <br /> ears, the face, and the mouth. <br />Stomach Stomach cancer (also called gastric cancer) can develop in any part of the <br /> stomach and may spread throughout the stomach and to other organs.
