59 <br /> SCS ENGINEERS <br /> LFG Permitting , Design , Construction , and Utilization <br /> South Wake Landfill and Feltonsville Landfill <br /> Holly Springs and Apex, North Carolina <br /> Client Reference SCS has been retained by Wake County's Facilities Design and <br /> John Roberson, PE Construction Department to perform landfill gas-to-energy <br /> Wake County Facilities Design & (LFGE) feasibility evaluations, and greenhouse gas emission <br /> Construction Department reduction (carbon credit) studies for the South Wake and/or <br /> 919.856.6365 <br /> Feltonsville landfills. Also, SCS performed field <br /> Contract Amount: >$200,000 investigations, developed LFG control system design, and <br /> Date: 2008 to present assisted the County with permitting, bidding, CQA, and <br /> construction administration. <br /> Key Personnel <br /> Bob Dick, PE, Project Director Landfill Gas Collection and Control System. SCS designed and <br /> John Hurford, PE, Project Advisor permitted the first phase of an active landfill Gas Collection <br /> Patrick LeClair, Project Engineer and Control System (GCCS). The County elected to install the <br /> Nick Guarriello,Staff Engineer GCCS, prior to any regulatory requirement, to both monetize <br /> Highlights the carbon credits and support a beneficial energy use project. <br /> Specific activities involved: <br /> ✓ LFG System Design <br /> ✓ Construction Documents • Performed the engineering design to develop construction <br /> ✓ Bid Assistance <br /> ✓ Construction Engineering drawings and specifications, developed construction cost <br /> ✓ Permitting estimates, provided bid assistance services, and construction <br /> ✓ LFGE Feasibility Study administration such as shop drawing review. <br /> ✓ Pipeline Route Study <br /> ✓ LFGE Pipeline Design • Developed permit documentation for wastewater industrial <br /> ✓ LFGE Pipeline Permitting discharge permit, solid waste permits, and erosion and <br /> sedimentation control plan and interfaced with NCDENR <br /> and Town of Holly Springs. <br /> LFG Transmission Pipeline to Novartis. SCS designed and <br /> permitted a LFGE transmission pipeline from the South Wake <br /> Landfill to the Novartis Pharmaceutical Plant in the Town of <br /> Holly Springs. Specific activities involved: <br /> • Prepared a report comparing the advantages and <br /> 1 disadvantages of three pipe routes for carrying processed <br /> ' ° LFG to the Novartis Pharmaceutical Plant 3 miles southwest <br /> i - - of the landfill. <br /> 4 <br /> -;'' • Coordinated on survey of final route and developed design <br /> criteria for proposed pipeline. Performed the engineering <br /> design to develop permit-level drawings and specifications <br /> for Encroachment Agreement and interfaced with NCDOT, <br /> NCUC, and other agencies. <br /> Project Profile <br />
