z <br />3. The Department of Social Services has received notification from the State of additional <br />funds for the current fiscal year for the following programs: <br />a. Child Day Care Subsidies -The Department will use an additional $150,000 <br />allocation to continue providing childcare subsidies to low-income families, Currently, <br />there are 668 children and their families who benefit from this program. An additional <br />164 are on the waiting list, These additional funds bring the current budget for this <br />program to $3,927,641 for fiscal year 2005-06, <br />b, LINKS Program -The Department will use an additional allocation of $4,239 to offset <br />costs associated with its independent living program. This program allows the <br />department to offer training to foster care youth regarding job preparation, daily living <br />skills, and money management. These additional funds bring the current budget for <br />this program to $45,873 for fiscal year 2005-06. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these State funds for the above stated <br />purposes, (See Attachment 1, column #3) <br />4, The Department of Social Services has received the following donations from citizens that <br />are set-aside in a special Adoption Enhancement Fund (outside the General Fund): <br />c, Foster Care Donations -donated funds totaling $35 from citizens, through Triangle <br />Community Foundation, to help send foster care children to summer camp. <br />d. General Assistance Donations -donated funds totaling $100 from citizens to help <br />with special needs of clients, including senior citizens, <br />e, Adoption Services Donations -donated funds totaling $4,50 from citizens to help with <br />the initiation of services for the purpose of adoption, <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these donated funds for the above stated <br />purposes. (See Attachment 1, column #4) <br />Human Rights and Relations <br />5. The County's Human Rights and Relations office recently received notification of a $100,000 <br />allocation from the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Partnership Initiative. The <br />department will use the funds for four initiatives (1) develop and fund a community civil rights <br />educator fellowship program; (2) a social justice library and media center that will be located <br />in the Human Rights and Relations office; (3) to purchase technology equipment for the <br />Human Rights and Relations office; and (4) advertising and other fair housing-related <br />expenses. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of $100,000 through the HUD <br />Partnership Initiative far the above stated purposes, (See Attachment 1, column # 5) <br />
