ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: .June 13, 2006 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. ,cj- U <br />SUBJECT: Minute Preparer Agreement <br />DEPARTMENT: County Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Yes -Agreement <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Donna Baker, ext. 2130 <br />PURPOSE: To consider far approval an agreement between the County of Orange and Becky <br />Butler far the preparation of BOCC meeting minutes. <br />BACKGROUND: In the past, staff in the Office of the Clerk to the Bcard of County <br />Commissioners expended significant time and energy transcribing and preparing written <br />minutes far various meetings including the Board of County Commissioners' meetings. During <br />the budget process in 1999, the County Commissioners decided to outsource minute <br />preparation. During the past 7 years, this has definitely enhanced efficiency in the BOCC <br />department and has allowed staff to perform other duties, <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds are included in the budget for the Clerk's office for the year 2006- <br />2007 and total $14,440, providing prepared minutes for 170 recorded meeting hours ($85,00 <br />per recorded hour), It is expected that $15,300 ($90 per recorded hour) will be needed for <br />2007-2008. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the agreement <br />and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board. <br />
