The community members present at the October 6 meeting were representing various <br /> nonprofit organizations, county agencies and the community: <br /> Atrayus Goode, President and CEO, Movement of Youth <br /> Charlene & Jeff Campbell, Co-Founders, Beyond Expectations, Inc. <br /> Bishop Victor Glover, Executive Director, Fathers on the Move <br /> Sheriff Charles Blackwood, Orange County <br /> Dawn Bagwell, Orange County Schools <br /> Linda Hall, Durham Technical Community College <br /> Samathryn Witham, Town of Chapel Hill <br /> Jenn Weaver, Commissioner, Town of Hillsborough <br /> Kathleen Ferguson, Commissioner, Town of Hillsborough <br /> Cat Griffith, Community Member <br /> Steven Drake, Attorney, Community Member <br /> Susan Worley, Volunteers for Youth <br /> In addition, the following community members have indicated an interest in serving on an <br /> MBK-Orange Advisory Board, Charlene and Jeff Campbell, Bishop Glover, Deputy <br /> Andre Richmond and Commissioner Price. Also, representatives from other <br /> participating groups and agencies will be recruited for appointments once this <br /> proposal becomes final. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact at this time. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are applicable <br /> to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding necessary for <br /> residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for themselves and their <br /> dependents. <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang activity, <br /> substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION AND INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or color; <br /> religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national origin or ethnic <br /> background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential or economic status. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board authorize Movement of <br /> Youth (MOY) as the lead agency to manage the My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Orange Initiative to <br /> enhance the structure and provide support. <br />
