PUBLIC HEARING YES: NO: XX <br /> ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: Pam Jones <br /> REPORT ( under separate cover ) ext 498 <br /> Telephone Number- <br /> Hillsborough -732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill -967-9251 <br /> Mebane -227-2031 <br /> Durham -688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: To accept the final report regarding the airport proposed in <br /> Orange County and to authorize Purchasing Director to close <br /> out the project with the State of North Carolina. <br /> BACKGROUND: In late 1988 the Board of Commissioners authorized a <br /> feasibility study of siting a new general aviation airport in Orange <br /> County. In May, 1989 the Board determined there was no such <br /> appropriate site and the process was halted. <br /> The engineering firm of Wilbur Smith Associates provided services <br /> associated with the potential siting. It is required that the Board <br /> accept their final report in order that the paperwork can be filed with <br /> the NC DOT-Aviation and the project closed out . <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Accept final report ; and authorize the Purchasing and <br /> Central Services Director to file the necessary paperwork to close out <br /> the project . <br />
