6 <br /> RURAL INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY NODE. Land focused on designated road <br /> intersections within a Rural Residential or Agricultural-Residential <br /> area that is appropriate for small scale industrial uses which do not <br /> require urban-type services. <br /> EXTRACTIVE USE. Land designated to encompass operations designed <br /> primarily for the mining and quarrying of those substances which are <br /> legally removable from the ground and substrata. <br /> AGRICULTURAL AREAS. Land which is actively being used for farming and <br /> forestry purposes and which qualify for or are listed for, use value <br /> taxation purposes. <br /> PUBLIC INTEREST AREA. Land which contains public or quasi-public uses <br /> such as publicly owned land, research forests or known archaeological <br /> or historical sites . <br /> WATER SUPPLY WATERSHED. Land draining to existing reservoirs which <br /> serve as public water supplies for the County, or to potential <br /> reservoir sites which have been designated for protection against <br /> threats to the water quality of future water supplies . <br /> 0 WATER QUALITY CRITICAL AREA. Land draining directly to existing or <br /> future water supply impoundments by overland flow and interflow, called <br /> shorelands, and draining into the main channels of trunk streams <br /> emptying into the impoundments, called non-basin drainage areas . <br /> RESERVOIR. Land which contains the necessary attributes for the <br /> placement of a water supply impoundment to supply an adequate quality <br /> of water for public purposes. <br /> RESOURCE PROTECTION AREAS. Land which contains identifiable or <br /> potential natural resources . This includes wetlands along drainage <br /> tributaries, and steep slope areas ( 15% or greater) . These areas form <br /> the basis for a parks and open space system which provides the <br /> framework within which other land uses are situated. <br />
