PAGE 6 <br /> Turner feels the County has done very well. John Link stated this information would be <br /> provided to the Board. <br /> Commissioner Marshall asked about goals for the handicapped. Ms. Turner <br /> indicated that a concerted effort would be made this year to gather and tabulate that data. <br /> Goals will then be developed. This information will be included in the report for next <br /> year. <br /> Chairman Carey asked about goals for each County Department. He emphasized <br /> the importance of setting goals and having a plan for implementation. <br /> B. ORANGE COUNTY SLOGAN <br /> Eleanor Cornish, representing PIPR, explained that PIPR selected a slogan to <br /> use in promoting the County and which expresses the overall mission of County Government. <br /> The slogan "YOU COUNT IN ORANGE COUNTY" was selected by the PIPR Committee and will be used <br /> in various ways to let the citizens know they count. This will serve as a focus for the <br /> Orange County's customer service campaign which will begin in April. <br /> There was a consensus of the Board to approve this slogan. <br /> C. CARDEN'S MOBILE HOME PARK <br /> Dan Reimer explained that after an on-site visit, it was determined that there <br /> is no evidence of an "eminent health hazard" . Additional tests were taken this morning <br /> to determine whether a "public health nuisance" in terms of GS 130A-19 exists. The results <br /> from this testing will be reported at the next meeting. Discussion ensued on the point of <br /> discharge and concerns about the length of time this problem has existed. A resolution <br /> outlining the County's position on this problem will be presented for approval at the next <br /> meeting. <br /> X. ITEMS FOR DECISION--REGULAR AGENDA <br /> A. BUCK RUN PRELIMINARY PLAN <br /> The property is located on the north side of West Lebanon Road in Cheeks <br /> Township. It is zoned rural Residential and PW-II. The Land use Plan designation is Rural <br /> Residential and Protected Watershed. The property is in the Back Creek Watershed. Twenty <br /> (20) lots are proposed out of 97.2 acres. <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Hartwell, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis <br /> to approve this Preliminary Plan as per the resolution which is attached to these minutes <br /> on pages <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> B. SOUTHERN WINDS PRELIMINARY PLAN <br /> The Property is located off the east side of NC 86 in Hillsborough Township. <br /> The total acreage of the tract is 30 acres and the average lot size proposed is five acres. <br /> The property is zoned Agricultural Residential with part of lots 4A and 4B being PW-II. <br /> The Land Use Plan designation is Agricultural Residential and partial PW-II. Six lots are <br /> proposed. <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Hartwell, seconded by Commissioner Marshall to <br /> approve this Preliminary Plan as per the resolution which is attached to these minutes on <br /> pages <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> C. COURTHOUSE LANDSCAPING <br /> John Link updated the Commissioners on the status of the Old Courthouse Square <br /> Landscape Plan. He explained that there are four trees that need to be removed. They are <br /> dying and present a safety hazard to pedestrians, vehicles, power lines and a potential <br /> liability to the County. Duke Power has offered to remove these trees at no cost to the <br />
