2 <br /> A <br /> Old Courthouse Square Suggested Landscape Plan <br /> Renovation and/or Reconstruction of the Old Courthouse <br /> grounds. This project, will be conducted in three phases. <br /> PHASE I <br /> King Street - During this phase, the following will be <br /> accomplished: <br /> - Duke Power Company will remove four dying trees along <br /> Churton Street . Tree removal March 1990 . <br /> *- Collaboration with Duke Power to install , if <br /> appropriate, underground utilities and/or stub in <br /> street lights. <br /> *- Sidewalk demolition and grading will occur as <br /> necessary to insure proper drainage, level surface and <br /> appropriate base for construction. <br /> *- The sidewalk will be replaced with concrete base and <br /> flagstone surface. <br /> *Work to begin July 1990 at a cost of $26, 000 . <br /> Please note Phase I and II will be conducted <br /> simultaneously. <br /> PHASE II <br /> Churton Street - Again, we will take all the preparatory <br /> steps as we did in Phase I . Additionally, we will ask that <br /> the contractor preserve the existing flagstone for reuse. <br /> The useable flagstone will be relaid and new flagstone used <br /> to supplement . Six large trees approximately 9 inches in <br /> diameter will be planted. <br /> Work to be completed October 1990 at a cost of $38, 000 . <br /> • <br />
