Reimer <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER: <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: To report to the Commissioners, the preliminary results of the Health <br /> Director's investigation of the health risks associated with the leaking sand <br /> filter septic system at Cardens Mobile Home Park. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Health Director, his Environmental Health Staff and the <br /> County Engineer met representatives of the Division of Environmental Manage- <br /> ment at the Cardens Mobile Park on 2/23/90. Previous effluent sample test <br /> results were reviewed, effluent from the sand filter and other drain fields was <br /> observed, the neighboring property was inspected and the plans for the new <br /> packaged treatment plant were also reviewed. No evidence of an "Eminent Health <br /> Hazzard", in terms of G.S. 130A-20. could be found. However ackittiona1,_, more <br /> definitive tests were ordered on the effluent and the water supplies to <br /> determine whether a "Public Health Nuisance", in terms of GS 130A-19., <br /> exists. On the basis of these findings, an assessment of appropriate <br /> action will be made. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : Receive as information <br />
