G. ORIENTATION AND TRAINING ON EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY <br /> FOR DEPARTMENT HEADS AND SUPERVISORS <br /> The Personnel Department will initiate the <br /> implementation of the 1990 Equal Employment Opportunity <br /> Program with a Workshop for Department Heads and supervisors. <br /> The objectives of this Workshop will be: <br /> . To communicate to department heads and supervisors <br /> the importance of the Equal Employment Opportunity <br /> Program and to detail their involvement in and <br /> responsibilities for the program. <br /> ▪ To explain the purpose and elements of the program <br /> to assure that all understand the implementation <br /> philosophy. <br /> . To provide information on legal rulings, individual <br /> responsibilities , and avenues of available help for . <br /> any problems that arise. <br /> . To provide opportunities for department heads and <br /> supervisors to examine and react to policies, <br /> practices , and behaviors that enhance or inhibit equal <br /> employment opportunity. <br /> . To sensitize department heads and supervisors to <br /> racial and sexual stereotypes that hinder equal <br /> opportunity. <br /> . To make department heads and supervisors aware of the <br /> fact that older and handicapped workers can make good <br /> employees , and make worthwhile contributions. <br /> . To help department heads and supervisors see Equal <br /> Employment Opportunity principles as tools of sound <br /> management rather than impositions of federal law. <br /> . To help foster a climate supportive of equal <br /> opportunity for all employees. <br /> C. Ongoing Training <br /> We will provide ongoing training for all supervisors in <br /> regards to Orange County' s EEO/AA Program. In addition, the <br /> principles of EEO will be focused on all aspects of <br /> management and supervisory training in Orange County. <br /> 17 <br />
