RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY <br /> County Manager' s Responsibilities <br /> The Manager of Orange County is responsible for <br /> assuring that hiring, promotion, and all other employment <br /> practices and aspects of the employment relationship with <br /> employees in Orange County are consistent with Title VII of <br /> the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and North Carolina General <br /> Statute 126-16. p <br /> Supervisor' s Responsibilities <br /> Each supervisor plays a crucial role in carrying out the <br /> Equal Employment Opportunity Policy as a part of his/her job. <br /> The Equal Employment Opportunity duties of supervisors <br /> include: p <br /> 1 . Assisting in identifying problems and recommending <br /> solutions; and <br /> 2. Preventing harassment of any employee on the basis <br /> of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, and <br /> mental or physical handicap. <br /> Personnel Department Responsibilities <br /> The Personnel Department of Orange County is responsible <br /> for the administration of the Equal Employment <br /> Opportunity/Affirmative Action Program. The EEO Officer for <br /> this plan period is Karen Boulding. <br /> The duties and responsibilities of the Equal Employment <br /> Opportunity Officer include, but are not limited to: <br /> . Development and submission of a written EEO Program. <br /> The Program will be monitored and evaluated on a <br /> semi-annual basis; and updated on an annual basis <br /> with publication at the beginning of each calendar <br /> year. <br /> 11 <br /> . General coordination of programs and action steps <br /> established in the Program. <br /> . Investigation of employee and applicant <br /> discrimination complaints and attempting to resolve <br /> them. • <br /> ▪ Collection, analysis, and publication/dissemination <br /> of all statistical data called for in the Program. <br /> • .
