ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> Action Agenda <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Item No. n(-$ <br /> SUBJECT: REPORT McCOMPLETEtCOUNTbCOMMITTEE 1990 <br /> DEPARTMENT: BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PUBLIC HEARING YES: <br /> NO: X <br /> ATTACHMENT(S) : NO INFORMATION CONTACT: MOSES CAREY, JR. <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER- <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: To update the County Commissioners on what the Complete Count <br /> Committee has planned for the census count. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Complete Count Committee was initiated by the Board of <br /> Commissioners in an effort to be sure all citizens of Orange County are <br /> counted in the 1990 Census. <br /> Norm Gustaveson, Chair of this Committee will report on the activity of <br /> this committee which is spearheading the pre-census publicity campaign. <br /> The Committee's charge is to attempt to: <br /> 1. promote, publicize, and interpret the importance of the 1990 <br /> census throughout Orange County, <br /> 2. identify individuals who might be missed in the census <br /> count. Also, identify and contact organizations that can <br /> help us name and locate these individuals, and <br /> 3. identify, with the help of assisting organizations, <br /> individuals who receive census forms and either forget or <br /> fail to return them to census counters and then to encourage <br /> these individuals to participate by returning their census <br /> forms. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> Receive as information. <br />
