Special Use Permit Evaluation Standards for a <br /> transmission line are: <br /> a) that adjacent property is protected from dangers of <br /> explosion, rupture, collapse, fire, and other <br /> menace to public health and safety; and <br /> b) that the transmission line is a public convenience <br /> and necessity. <br /> Although the application for Special Use Permit cannot <br /> be submitted until a specific location is proposed, <br /> the project engineer has been encouraged to obtain <br /> input from Orange County during the route location <br /> process. Representatives of the Public Service <br /> Company of North Carolina will be present at the Board <br /> of Commissioners meeting on February 20 . A map <br /> indicating the proposed route of the pipeline, and the <br /> location of existing gas lines will be used to <br /> illustrate the relation of the proposed link to the <br /> overall natural gas distribution system. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Information only. <br />
