These <br /> guidelines were presented at the September 14 JPA <br /> Public Hearing. <br /> BACKGROUND: In 1988, the six-county Triangle J Council of <br /> Governments embarked on a "World Class Region" <br /> program, consisting of eight teams charged with <br /> developing comprehensive regional proposals. <br /> After a year of study, the Regional Land Use team has <br /> authored a report entitled Land Use Guidelines. The <br /> TJCOG has approved the report and commended it to the <br /> member governments for consideration. <br /> The Land Use Guidelines report calls for regional <br /> cooperation in assembling policy documents, analyzing <br /> the implications of the land use guidelines, <br /> generating a common classification of land uses <br /> throughout the region, and participating in a regional <br /> database. <br /> At the September 14, 1989 Joint Planning Public <br /> Hearing, Ray Green, Planning Director for the TJCOG, <br /> presented the report to Orange County and the Towns of <br /> Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
