ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: June 13th, 2006 <br />Action AgencJda <br />Item No. - ~ <br />SUBJECT: Contract Renewal with Dr, Marat Dubrovsky, DVM, DBA Nicks Road Veterinary <br />Clinic, for Spay/Neuter Surgery Services with the Animal Shelter Division of the <br />Animal Services Department <br />DEPARTMENT: Animal Services PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No <br />ATTACHMENT (S): <br />Renewal Contract <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Bob Marotto, Animal Services Director, <br />919-968-2287 <br />PURPOSE: Ta approve a contract renewal with Dr. Marat Dubrovsky, DVM, to provide <br />spay/neuter surgery services for Orange County's Animal Shelter at the unit price of $60 per <br />surgery during FY 2006-2007. <br />BACKGROUND: Orange County has contracted with Dr. Dubrovsky since .luly 1, 2005 to <br />provide spay/neuter surgery services for cats and dogs adopted from the Animal Shelter. Dr. <br />Dubrovsky has a successftal record of adult and pediatric sterilization and Animal Services' <br />management recommends a continuation of those services. <br />Contract format and requirements are the same as for the preceding fiscal year, with the term of <br />the contract being from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007, The contract fee for sterilization will <br />remain at the flat rate of $60 per animal; and for each sterilized animal, a physical examination <br />shall be conducted and records prepared for Orange County's Animal Shelter, Also, there are <br />select additional predefined charges for certain services that can be performed on sterilized <br />animals but only as authorized by management of the County's Animal Shelter, (These are <br />enumerated in Appendix A of the attached renewal contract,) <br />Bab Marotto (Animal Services Director) and Joe Pulcinella (Animal Shelter Director) have <br />recently reviewed the conditions and requirements of this contract with Dr, Dubrovkky, Dr, <br />Dubrovsky provided a clinic tour at the first of the twc meetings, which was held at the Nicks <br />Road Veterinary Clinic. The original contract for his services was negotiated during the Shelter <br />transition by the team that consisted of Pam Jones, Purchasing, Rosemary Summers, Health, <br />Jae Pulcinella, Shelter, John Sauls, formerly with Animal Control, Kate Wilder, Health Board <br />veterinarian, and Gwen Harvey, Assistant County Manager, <br />
