I had the <br /> opportunity while there to be a part of very large projects that impacted the community. Part of <br /> my job involved making sure that the building codes were adhered to. I have been a part of <br /> community discussions on planning on both sides of the table. I think that experience would be <br /> useful on the Planning Commission. <br /> I have lived in various places. We moved to Chapel Hill from Germany. Living in another country <br /> can open your eyes to different ways a community can be and what can be possible. I have <br /> been a part of many different pieces of Chapel Hill. I have been an assistant to local artists. I <br /> am a substitute in the local school system. I am a certified teacher in mathematics in the state of <br /> NC. I have had a child in the public, private, and now homeschooling group here in Chapel Hill. <br /> While part of the Community Design Commission I have taken developers on tours of Chapel <br /> Hill more than once. My knowledge of NC and other areas has given me the ability to explain to <br /> developers what could be. For instance I was able to explain to the developers of the Shortbread <br /> Lofts that they owed a streetscape to Rosemary Street. What followed from those discussions in <br /> the Design Commission later developed into great attention to Rosemary Street. I became a <br /> Certified Document Technologist(CDT)while at URS which means I have studied the code and <br /> had being clear, complete, and concise drilled into me.
