C. <br />STANDARDS: .2403 (a) (8); ..3201 <br />POLICY STATEMENT: In order to provide inmates with an opportunity to <br />communicate their medical complaints and needs to qualified medical personnel, the Jail <br />Administrator will develop and implement a system whereby inmates can verbally express and <br />/or document their medical complaints to ,jail detention officers. Jail detention officers shall be <br />responsible for listening and cazefully documenting each inmate's medical complaindrequest <br />and for ensuring as soon as possible that their complaints are referred to our contracted medical <br />professionals for the facility. Inmates will be afforded the opportunity to communicate and /or <br />document their health care complaints and needs to.jail detention officers any time a need arises <br />or on a daily basis in the mornings when the designated detention officer checks each cell block <br />ascertaining " if "any inmate has any medical needs. <br />SPECIFIC PROCEDURES: <br />1. .Tail detention officers will ensure that daily rounds are conducted at the beginning of the <br />_ morning shift and that inmates aze given the opportunity to voice any medical <br />complaints/requests they may have to jail detention officers. <br />2. .Jail detention officers will record each inmate's medical complaint or request on a <br />separate "Prisoner Medical Report Form: (see Attachment #1) on the space on the form where it <br />requests information relative to the complaint. <br />3. Jail detention officers will be required to submit all "Prisoner Medical Report Forms" <br />medical or medicines listed to the Shift Supervisor. The Shift Supervisor will record all <br />"Prisoner Medical Report Forms" in the Prisoner Medical Farms Received Log, located in the <br />Medical Room. The Shift Supervisor will initial at the right side of each entry they record in the <br />Prisoner Medical Forms Received Log and give the form to the Med Passer on duty. The Med <br />Passer on duty will initial at the right side of each entry of the forms they receive and place the <br />form in a file for review by our contracted medical professional as soon as possible,. (NOTE: <br />Should a,jail detention officer feel that an inmate's medical complaint may require emergency <br />caze or attention, the procedure outlined in Orange County .fail Policy 4.05, "Emergency <br />Medical Care" shall be followed). <br />4. The Jail detention officer completing the Prisoner Medical Report Form (see Attachment <br />#1) with medical or medicine issues listed will give all completed farms to the Shift Supervisor <br />to record all medical complaints and referrals received daily in the Prisoner Medical Report <br />Form Log. The following information will be recorded: <br />A. Inmate's name; <br />B. Housing location; and, <br />C. Date of the inmate's request. <br />D. Officer's name <br />E. Summarized Medical Complaint <br />
