POLICY 4.16, "MEDICAL CART PROCEDURES" <br />PAGE2OF~ <br />~7 <br />3. Drawer lettered (G) is the Nazcotic Drawer: The narcotic drawer is identified as drawer letter <br />(G) The narcotic drawer shall remain lacked at all times, unless, when the med passer is taking <br />out a medication to administer, and then re-locked after the med passer administers the <br />medicine. The med passer, on returning to the medical office, shall check the drawer to <br />insure it is locked when returning to the med room. (Note. no nazcotics shall be left in the <br />narcotic drawer for anyone who is not in our jail. Leaving nazcotics in the drawer shall not be <br />allowed. When a state inmate leaves our facility, the inmate's nazcotic drug is to be destroyed. <br />If the inmate is a federal inmate, the drug goes with him/her, if not it is destroyed by <br />procedures.) THIS PROCEDURE CANNOT BE VIOLATED. MISTAKES CAN BE EASLLY <br />MADE, <br />4. Drawer lettered (A) is the ointments, creams and diabetic supply drawer. This drawer is the <br />center top drawer and is identified as drawer letter (A) on the cart. This drawer is divided and <br />stocked as listed below. <br />The drawer contains various ointments, creams, diabetic supplies, Q-tips, gauzes and labeled <br />medicine cups for inmates who are confined in the jail. This drawer has dividers, which can keep <br />these items separated. <br />• Antibiotic Ointment, Hydrocortisone Cream, Bacitracin Ointment, Diabetic <br />Supplies, 2x2 Gauze , Orajel, Q-tips (MED PASSERS UPON COMPLETION OF A MED <br />ROiIND S i.T. CHECK TflE SUPPLIES LISTED ABOVE) <br />Medicine cups with each inmate's name and photo on them aze stocked in the drawer. The <br />drawer in this area is divided by cells and is in alphabetical order for the Old Jail and J, A- <br />Pod, 106, 109, and B-Pod order for J Cell and Annex, (med passers should ascertain from <br />the shift supervisor or check the cell assignment board to see if any inmate has left or been <br />moved from an assigned cell block before leaving the med room with the cart) by doing this <br />one thin, possible confusion on the floor could be eliminated. <br />5. Drawer lettered (B) is identified for federal and (B, C,H&.I cell) inmates housed in the old jail. <br />1, This drawer is cleazly mazked as letter (B) on the cart. <br />2. Medications on for federal and (B,C,H&J cell) inmates shall be placed in this drawer <br />3. Medications shall be in order by cell assignment <br />4 Medications shall be in order by cell and in inmate name by alphabetical order and as <br />medicine to be administered is listed on the M A R. from first to last medicine order. <br />5 Med passer shall look at the prepared package and insure the inmates picture and name. <br />match. (it is crucial that the med passer preparing the cart check and re-check the <br />drawer before leaving the cart for the neat shift med passer) <br />
