MAR Log and Med cart <br />• The Med Passer is to check the MAR book before leaving the medical room to ensure the <br />MARS are in alphabetical order by Inmate name and have Inmate photo/identification <br />sticker attached, <br />• Med Passer shall check MAR's and ensure changes/updates are reflected on the MAR. <br />Changes/updates of Treatments should also be reflected on the MAR, New Diabetic <br />inmates should also be added to Glucose Monitoring list if applicable. <br />• The drawers of the medication cart are clearly marked Annex and QId Jail. Each drawer <br />shall have all drug cards filed by Cell Block clearly marked with each inmate's name in <br />alphabetical order. <br />Medication cards should follow in order as listed on the MAR and shall have each inmate's <br />photo/identification attached, <br />8. Breakfast Medication Administration <br />Before leaving the medication room for medication administration, the Med Passer shall <br />prepare the medication cart with necessary supplies. <br />• Med Passer will enter their I.D, button in the medication probe before the medication pass. <br />Time of entry and exit of each cell by the Med Passer will be documented by this probe, <br />When administering any drug to an inmate, the inmate shall approach the Med Passer <br />and display his/her photo-identification arm band. The arm band is to be viewed for <br />verification of inmate to receive medication. If an Inmate does not have an arm band, the <br />Shift Supervisor is to be notified for their intervention. Medications are not to be <br />administered to Inmates without Photo-identification arm bands, The med passer will <br />administer all tablets and capsules by pouring the medication from a medication cup into <br />the inmate's hand. Disposable medication paper cups may be given to the inmate when <br />administering medication.. <br />The med passer will ensure that the Inmate swallows the administered medication. <br />• The med passer will administer inhalants by the ordered administration method. <br />• The med passer will administer creams, powders, liquids, etc,.. in disposable medication <br />paper cups. <br />The med passer will initial the MAR to verify administered medication. <br />• The med passer will mark the MAR to verify refused medication. <br />• The med passer will note the back of the MAR for any unusual medication issues. <br />• At completion of administration of medications, the Med Passer will review the MAR book <br />fo ensure all medications have been signed as administered/refiised, etc. <br />9. Med Passer will hourly check the Inmate Medical screening and Requests Bins for <br />new forms. New forms will be reviewed and action taken for appropriate requests <br />andlor medical information. <br />Medical requests for PRN medications shall be placed in the Charts for Review box with <br />the Inmates chart attached. Jail Health Provider shall be contacted for medication that <br />the Med Passer feels needs to be initiated sooner than the next scheduled Clinic Day. <br />Medical requests to see the Jail Health provider should be reviewed for urgencylneed. If <br />it is felt to be an urgent request, Jaii Health Provider should be contacted for discussion <br />of the complaint. ff the request is not urgent, the Medical Request and Inmate chart <br />should be placed in the Next Clinic box for the Provider's next clinic day. <br />Medication orders obtained from a Provider shall be documented in the Inmate chart and <br />chart placed in the Charts for Review Box. Provider shall sign at next clinic day. <br />
