3~ <br />POLICY 4.09, "ADMIlVIST'RATION AND CONTROL OF MEDICATIONS" <br />PAGE 4 OF 9 <br />6. Plane the non-prescription medication card in the cart according to <br />the medical cart procedures. <br />7. Place the inmate medical sick call request form back into the <br />medical sick call request form holder. (the next available medical personnel <br />will paperclip the sick call request form to the inmate's chart and put both <br />in the "to be seen in clinic" box.) <br />8. Administer the first dose of non-prescription medication <br />immediately following the med pass if the request was made during the <br />med pass. If the request was made after the med pass, administer the <br />first dose at the next scheduled med pass. <br />9. The mar is to be initialed each time according to the mar <br />procedure guidelines and the non-prescription medication protocol.. <br />_ 7. When administering inmates with non-prescriptive medications, the shift <br />supervisor, designated med passer or medical professional shall place the <br />medication in a small medicine cup labeled with the inmate's name on the side of <br />the cup far delivery to the inmate. Small medicine cups craze located in the medical <br />office. Medications should be provided only in accordance with the schedule on <br />the medicine package,. (We now have medicines prepazed which do not require the <br />label to be placed on the cup) <br />8. The designated med passer administering the medicine should carefully <br />watch atl irunates take their non-prescriptive medications to discourage hoazding <br />of medication by inmates.. <br />2. Prescriptive Medications: <br />A Storage and Maintenance. <br />1, All prescriptive medications, authorized to be taken by any inmate confined <br />to the facility, will be stored and maintained in a locked cabinet or cart located in <br />the facility Medical Room. <br />2. All prescriptive medications will be organized by the inmate's name to <br />which the medication is prescribed. (in the following order: cell assignment, <br />- alphabetical last name, and medication in M.A.R. order. ) <br />3. Note storage of prescription medicines is the TOTAL, <br />RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. <br />
