~s <br />POLICY 4.04, "ROU'TINE MEDICAL CARE OF INMATES (NON-EMERGENCY) <br />PAGE 3 OF 4 <br />E, The med passer shall then report to the Shift Supervisor with the prisoner medical <br />report forms. The Detention Shift Supervisor shall be responsible for reviewing all <br />"Prisoner Medical Report Forms" that have been submitted by the med passer.. The Shift <br />Supervisor shall at this time have the med passer deliver the Prisoner Medical Report <br />Forms to the contracted Medical Professional (if on duty) and inform the medical <br />professional of the requests, Contracted Facility Medical Professionals shall be <br />responsible for prioritizing all "Prisoner Medical Report Forms" in terms of needed <br />health care. <br />F Once an examination has been completed in response to a "Prisoner Medical <br />Report Form," request, the contracted medical professional conducting the examination <br />shall be responsible for updating the information in the inmate's medical report. The <br />inmate medical report shall contain the following information: <br />1. Date and time inmate was seen by health care professional; <br />2. Location of the examination; <br />3. Physician or health Gaze professional that examined the inmate; and, <br />4. Any medications required to be provided the inmate or any special <br />instructions. <br />G. The contracted medical professional will retain the "Prisoner Medical Report Form" <br />for filing in the inmate's medical record. Under no circumstances will copies of any <br />"Prisoner Medical Report Forms" containin_~~information as to the treatment or <br />H. .Tail detention officers shall be held responsible for following all instructions given <br />to them by health care professionals (e.g., administering medications to inmate's etc,). <br />4. Procedures for Accessing_Routine Medical Caze Services DurinQNnn-Scheduled Visiting <br />Davs: <br />A. Should an inmate have a medical need when our contracted Medical Professionals <br />aze not on duty or when the call back medical professional is not available/ the jail <br />detention supervisor shall first ask EMS to check the inmate? If EMS is unable to attend <br />to the inmate's medical need or advises that we transport the inmate to UNC-Chapel Hill <br />Hospital the Detention Supervisor shall immediately contact the Tail Administrator or <br />Major or the Sheriff. (If an emergency exists common sense prevails -we da what is <br />needed, we transport the inmate to the hospital and attend to the inmate's medical needs). <br />B The jail detention officer contacting Medical Personnel must document the contact <br />on a "Prisoner Medical Report Form". The same information contained in #2 (c), above, <br />will also be required to be recorded in the Prisoner Medical Report Form Log. <br />
