ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: June 13, 2006 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. s-d <br />SUBJECT: Orange County Jail Medical Plan and Hillsborough Medical Contract <br />DEPARTMENT: Sheriff <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Hillsborough Medical Contract -Health <br />Care <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y!N) No <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass 245-2923 <br />Orange County Jail Medical Plan <br />(under separate cover) <br />PURPOSE: To adapt the Orange County Jail Medical Plan and approve the medical health <br />care contract for inmate medical services at the jail facility for fiscal year July 1, 2005 thru June <br />30, 2006. <br />BACKGROUND: The Orange County Jail Medical Plan is reviewed yearly per General Statute <br />153A-225, The Orange County Jail Medical Plan is responsible for providing 24-hour <br />emergency medical care services for all inmates housed in our facility. To meet the medical <br />plan approved by the Board of Commissioners, Dr. Philip Singer and his staff at Hillsborough <br />Medical Group will assist the Orange County Sheriffs Office to provide on-site medical services <br />as necessary and provide telephone consultation 24 hours per day seven days per week. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Sheriffs Office will reimburse Hillsborough Medical Group at the <br />rate of $4,728 per month for medical services, <br />Hillsborough Medical Group agrees to maintain professional liability insurance. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the jail medical <br />plan and approved the medical services contract with Hillsborough Medical Group. <br />
