Sacrificial Poets <br /> provided key mentors and connected us with poets for nearly every episode, and WXYC <br /> hosted the live broadcast and donated critical technical support we could not otherwise <br /> access, <br /> 0 Collaborators for our Oral History Trust and Soundwalle <br /> o NC Central University: Course partnerships to develop community archives and <br /> educational material. <br /> c St. Joseph CME Church, First Baptist, St. Paul AME, and Lincoln High Alumni <br /> Association: Partners in the creation of the community teacher network to assist in all <br /> neighborhood workshops and tours. <br /> 0 Southern Oral History Program: Assists in oral history archive support and <br /> implementation. <br /> o UNC Campus Y: Provides us with Bonner Scholar Interns who are critical in the <br /> development and expansion of our oral history archive, <br /> Program ascription (3 pages OR LESS) <br /> Please provide the following Information about the proposed program: <br /> d) Summarize the program services proposed and how the program will address a <br /> Town/County priority/goal? <br /> Our Youth Leadership and Civil Rights Education program involve three main initiatives, <br /> • Civil Rights Workshops and Intergenerational Community Education Tours <br /> This educational series focuses on civil rights, local and oral history, and cross- <br /> generational education, It can be broken down into the following: <br /> 1. Local ivil Rishts Worksho , which aims to highlight the critical and transformative <br /> role of local youth in the struggle to integrate public spaces and attain racial justice. <br /> 2. Arts and Methods of Oral History V‘torkshu, which focuses on the experiences, <br /> actions, and accomplishments of our everyday history-makers. To maintain the <br /> legacies of our neighbors who laid the stone wails at UNC, integrated area schools, <br /> and ultimately risked their lives, jobs, and safety for freedom, we give students the <br /> opportunity to learn from and interact with our community mentors and we strive to <br /> keep their stories alive, <br /> 3. &ventures in Local History, which allows students to explore Historical Northside <br /> through a guided and informational tour. <br /> Together we build customized modules that encompass teacher ideas and student <br /> creativity. This project fuses youth and civic leadership training, <br /> media arts and performance, and historical education. For the past five years, Fusion <br /> Youth Radio co-directors and a team of adult mentors have worked with a total of 70 <br /> students to create a monthly radio show on UNC-Chapel Hill's student-run radio station, <br /> WXYC.
