New Business <br /> Mary Fraser announced that a breakfast for representatives of the faith community will be held <br /> on June 29 at the UNC Hospital— Hillsborough Campus. With the help of the pastoral <br /> counseling summer intern the Project EngAGE Faith Based Senior Resource Team will develop <br /> strategies for information dissemination to the faith community. The availability of commodity <br /> food boxes will also be promoted at this event. <br /> Janice Tyler stated that she concluded her presentation to the Chapel Hill Town Council by <br /> announcing that all Chapel Hill Transit drivers will be completing Dementia Friendly Business <br /> training. She encouraged the Town elected officials to seek designation as a Dementia Friendly <br /> community. Ms. Fraser added that the DFB post-training surveys have documented that the <br /> course has been very useful and should be repeated for new staff. <br /> 2017-22 Master Aging Plan <br /> Agency leaders are being asked to sign commitment letters to continue working on the issues <br /> identified during the MAP planning process. Mary Fraser reviewed the meeting schedule for <br /> the workgroups and the Steering Committee. The Advisory Board will hold a work session on <br /> July 11 to review its assigned tasks. Ms. Fraser also announced the work assignments for the <br /> MAP summer interns. <br /> Continuing Projects <br /> Candidates for Project EngAGE Class Four are now being recruited. The course will held <br /> September 14 through December 14. The Department on Aging is currently hosting a regional <br /> training for 35 professionals who work with clients with dementia and intellectual or <br /> developmental disabilities. <br /> Committee Progress Reports <br /> Yvonne Mendenhall reported on the success of the recent Long Term Care Workers Awards and <br /> reviewed the selection process. She also spoke about the Smiles Surprise Project which is a <br /> part of the Adult Care Home Committee visits. Volunteers such as the Memory Café clients and <br /> kindergarten students put the gift bags together. The Chair inquired how more information <br /> about the facilities can be included in the Committee's visit reports. <br /> Janice Tyler noted that the Friends of the Seymour Center organization is actively recruiting <br /> new Board members. <br /> There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Janice Tyler, Secretary <br /> Follow-up Item: Presentation on future of Carolina Villages <br />
