GS 14-414 indicates that the Board shall consider a fireworks <br />permit for "any and all kinds of fireworks and explosives, which are used far exhibitions or <br />amusement purposes." <br />County policy further requires assurance from the sponsoring agency that adequate public <br />safety measures will be exercised; and that the County will be protected as an additional <br />insured on the insurance policy(ies) covering the event, <br />The display will occur in the Town of Chapel Hill Fire Department's jurisdiction, County <br />approval is a criterion for Town approval, Blue Cross/Blue Shield has fulfilled the County's <br />criteria for a pyrotechnic permit as evidenced by the attached documents <br />On the day of the display, the Town of Chapel Hill Fire Department will be responsible for <br />ensuring that the site is set up as per the site plan and the inventory of pyrotechnics is <br />commensurate with what is approved, At such point that both the Chapel Hill Fire Department <br />and the Emergency Management Director are satisfied that the criteria for approval have been <br />met, the permit will be signed and officially issued. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the pyrotechnics <br />permit for the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Family Day 2006, June 3, 2006, contingent upon final <br />approval of the set up by the Emergency Management Director or his designee. <br />
