2 <br />Solid Waste Enterprise Fund <br />5. The Solid Waste Enterprise Fund has received reimbursement grant funds of $10,000 from <br />the North Carolina Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance <br />(NCDPPEA) to conduct public education in recycling and waste reduction. In conjunction <br />with the National Soft Drink Association (NSDA) advertising campaign, the City of Raleigh, <br />which was awarded a similar NCDPPEA education grant in the amount of $25,000, and <br />Orange County will pay for a series of radio advertisements, Together, the two media <br />outlets will create a common and repeated message, focused primarily on can and bottle <br />recycling, especially away from home, <br />Sufficient funds to cover Orange County's match of 10%, or $1,000, is available in the Solid <br />Waste Management budget for FY 2005-06. Raleigh's match for their $25,000 grant was <br />also 10%, or $2,500, Total value of this radio ad campaign is $38,500, This budget <br />amendment provides far the receipt of these funds for the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund. <br />(See Attachment 1, column #5) <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above, <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of County Commissioners <br />approve the attached budget ordinance amendments.. <br />
