Identify Program <br /> Manager and credentials, describe training provided to volunteers, etc.) <br /> Linda Esquivel, Community Specialist, received her B.A in Spanish Teacher from <br /> Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas University in Colombia. She worked for ICFES- <br /> Colombian Institute for Higher Education as an exam and essay reader. She worked <br /> as Spanish and Literature teacher for high school students and adults. <br /> h) Describe the specific period over which the activities will be carried out and include an <br /> implementation timeline. <br /> Services are delivered year-round. Office hours are gam — 5pm with some evening <br /> and weekend hours available for some services. Outreach is conducted during day, <br /> evenings, and weekend hours <br /> i) Why is funding this program a good investment for the community? How does funding this <br /> program add value to the community? (250 words OR LESS) <br /> Investing in this program is a direct investment in the all residents of Orange County <br /> and its municipalities. It expands the capacity of the organization to address the <br /> human service needs of the community. Individuals, families, and service providers <br /> have a place to get information and assistance in accessing area resources. It helps <br /> eliminate service gaps and disparities, builds inclusion, facilitates communication <br /> (particularly of those with Limited English Proficiency), and utilization of resources by <br /> community members. It contributes to building an informed, resilient, and engaged <br /> community of Orange County residents. <br /> j) Describe what would happen if requested funding is not awarded at all or if a reduced <br /> allocation is recommended. <br /> It would impact the amount of services rendered and/or hours of operation <br /> k) Include any other pertinent information. <br /> With new political environments and changing administrations locally and nationally, <br /> El Centro Hispano is taking a more active approach in engaging and mobilizing <br /> community in an effort to increase awareness of issues, legislations and policies as <br /> well as identify community leaders, build alliances with area agencies, and foster <br /> social action to eliminate inequity and build community. <br /> This past year we have been more active in holding community forums under the <br /> FAITH ID Initiative to build trust between the community and law enforcement and <br /> provide immigrants a form of identification the can help them better provide for <br /> themselves and their loved ones and fully contribute to the local community. These <br /> forums have been very successful to date, building awareness of law enforcement, <br /> community members, and community agencies.
