How does funding this
program add value to the community? (250 words OR LESS)
Investing in this program is a direct investment in the all residents of Orange County
and its municipalities. It expands the capacity of the organization to address the
human service needs of the community. Individuals, families, and service providers
have a place to get information and assistance in accessing area resources. It helps
eliminate service gaps and disparities, builds inclusion, facilitates communication
(particularly of those with Limited English Proficiency), and utilization of resources by
community members. It contributes to building an informed, resilient, and engaged
community of Orange County residents.
j) Describe what would happen if requested funding is not awarded at all or if a reduced
allocation is recommended.
It would impact the amount of services rendered and/or hours of operation
k) Include any other pertinent information.
With new political environments and changing administrations locally and nationally,
El Centro Hispano is taking a more active approach in engaging and mobilizing
community in an effort to increase awareness of issues, legislations and policies as
well as identify community leaders, build alliances with area agencies, and foster
social action to eliminate inequity and build community.
This past year we have been more active in holding community forums under the
FAITH ID Initiative to build trust between the community and law enforcement and
provide immigrants a form of identification the can help them better provide for
themselves and their loved ones and fully contribute to the local community. These
forums have been very successful to date, building awareness of law enforcement,
community members, and community agencies. We hope to continue conducting
these forums in an effort to continue building a safe, unified, culturally conscious
community.
PROGRAM INFORMATION 1/31/2017 3:16:25 PM Page 1 3 of 32
