DocuSign Envelope ID:80528E57-64B2-4BCE-A558-776533408604 XHIBIT A <br /> PROVIDER'S OUTSIDE AGENCY APPLICATION <br /> The executive director, in consultation with the HFHOC board of directors: <br /> • Acts as program director to plan and execute field trip and school outreach <br /> lesson plans, including hands-on activities, that support students' in-class <br /> studies and support NC's educational essential standards; <br /> • Develops and delivers the majority of family workshops; <br /> • Develops and delivers weekly Fairview programming. <br /> Describe the specific period over which the activities will be carried out and include an <br /> implementation timeline. <br /> Specific period: July 1, 2017-June 30, 2018. <br /> Implementation timeline: commencing July 1, 2017 and continuing through June <br /> 30, 2018, OCHM will: <br /> • Participate in heritage education programs with The Alliance for Historic <br /> Hillsborough and Burwell School on Hillsborough History Days; <br /> • Create and deliver on-site field trip experiences for K-12 OC students; <br /> • Make traveling trunks available to community groups requesting them; <br /> • Deliver weekly arts/crafts programming to the Fairview community. <br /> i) Why is funding this program a good investment for the community? How does <br /> funding this program add value to the community? (250 words OR LESS) <br /> Students who experience OCHM outreach through classroom visits and field trips to <br /> the museum aren't just learning about history. <br /> • They learn about other cultures in a way that fosters understanding and, along <br /> with it, respect and tolerance for those different from ourselves; <br /> • They experience the joy of learning through observation, inquiry, and the <br /> exercise of imagination; <br /> • They learn that fallible humans interpret and record history, thus making it an <br /> evolving narrative requiring more of learners than passive acceptance. <br /> • <br /> In this process they learn about themselves, their place in the world, and the <br /> importance of their own story.
