A modest rental <br /> fee for the program insures it is accessible for a broad range of community users. <br /> Outreach: since our first field trip in 1957, OCHM has invested significant staff <br /> time in developing and executing heritage education programs, both at the museum <br /> and as outreach in OC public schools. The primary audience for museum heritage <br /> outreach in OC schools is elementary school students, grades one through five. <br /> Field trips offer museum tours with emphasis on our exhibits and hands-on <br /> activities for students based on exhibit themes, and created to help anchor the <br /> learning experience. <br /> Fairview Art by the park/in the Park: This programming provides a learning <br /> experience for children from at-risk and low-income households. It is an out-of- <br /> school-time arts/crafts activity held weekly at Rainey substation or Fairview Pak in <br /> Hillsborough, depending on the season). The program allows children the <br /> opportunity to experience a wide array of art media in projects informed by <br /> Hillsborough's thriving artist community and the natural world around them. <br /> Children in the program range in age from four years to 18 years of age. <br /> Hillsborough History Day: For the past 10 years, OCHM, along with Burwell <br /> School and the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough to present History Fun Day <br /> heritage education. The museum presents tours and hands-on activities to <br /> participating K-12 student groups. Tours based on the history of Hillsborough and <br /> Orange County are written and delivered to support and enrich OC K-12 students' <br /> social studies learning. <br /> Special events: OCHM supports the Alliance of Hillsborough's Living History days <br /> with programs and activities designed for families with children. These include <br /> revolutionary War Living History Day, Hillsborough Day, and Hillsborough Fourth of <br /> July events. We offer workshops and demonstrations designed to highlight <br /> Hillsborough's rich history. <br /> For example, for this year's Revolutionary War Living History Day, we will present a <br /> spinning/weaving workshop highlighting the history of domestic textile production <br /> with an in-gallery demonstration spinning/weaving demonstration by local artisan <br /> Anna Currie and a hands-on family weaving workshop. <br /> PROGRAM INFORMATION 2/9/2017 1:10:02 PM rage 1 e If <br />
