The CEO, staff, and board are working to <br /> continue to expand the program throughout Orange County. <br /> • New partnership with Chapel Hill school district program, "School Reading Partners," which <br /> will train volunteers to work with BGC students twice per week at Northside. This will <br /> actively increase reading and comprehension. <br /> • New partnership with Power Crunch. They will be planning events and activities throughout <br /> the year. <br /> • In January 2016, Ron Reeves of Bridge Buildings at UNC, which focuses on work with at <br /> risk children in grades 3-6, started work with our program. This is a group of 20-30 African- <br /> American men who are employees of UNC in departments associated with athletics and in <br /> professions including graphic design, training, business, fund raising, ticket sales and <br /> coaching. They desire to serve as role models and build bridges to adulthood, provide field <br /> trips to the UNC campus to encourage kids to see themselves as future students on <br /> campus. They tutor and help kids with their homework, as well. This program continues this <br /> year. <br /> • We are collaborating with the Kidzu Museum to arrange field trips to their museum for low <br /> or no cost. <br /> • UNC APPLES PROGRAM,There are many other opportunities through the Apples program <br /> at UNC which provide volunteers and support to our Program. <br /> • The UNC Autograph Basketball Program has granted our Program $15,000 this year and <br /> has steadily supported our Program in many past years. They wish to support the youth, in <br /> part, recognizing that some star athletes may arise from the Program and attend UNC. <br /> • TWIG gift store in Chapel Hill supports us each year at Christmas time with 20% of <br /> purchases donated when the buyer requests the donation to go to the BGC. Their support <br /> program will take place in May 2017, this year. <br /> • We are members of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber <br /> featured our program as the non-profit-of-the month in May 2016 at their After-Hours <br /> Program. We are negotiating a month in 2017 to be spotlighted. As members. we make use <br /> of the monthly non-profit roundtable program and the After-Hours Program. <br /> • THE WALKING CLASSROOM. The Program for Impact engaged the Walking Classroom <br /> tapes during the summer 2016 program.
