<br />Objective #95: Develop incentives approved by the County Commissioners for more <br />adult care homes to accept special assistance monies in order for residents not to be <br />place in out -of -county facilities. (Goal IV-A) <br />Comment: Carillon, a new adult care home that accepts some residents on special <br />assistance, opened in Hillsborough in October 2005. <br />Objective #96: Partner with the UNC-CH and IINC hospitals to look at the potential for <br />developing a hospital affiliated long-term care teaching nursing home facility. (Goal IV-A) <br />Comment: Lack of staff time and resources. <br />Objective #97: Implement a recruiting campaign for qualified health care and other <br />service providers who specialize in meeting the needs of older persons. (Goal IV-A) <br />Comment: Lack of staff time and resources, The long term care facilities in the area <br />are for profit facilities. <br />Accomplishments -Dental Services for Long Term Care <br />Objective #98: Support the Senior Tarheel Legislature's resolution which asks the <br />N.C. General Assembly to allocate $1.:35 million to fund 3 Dental Access Units for <br />which regions can compete based on need (Region J has the most acute shortage of <br />dental caze services in LTC facilities than any N.C. metropolitan azea.) (Goal IV-A) <br />Accomalishment: Multi year objective 2002 - 2004. Supported legislation to <br />increase dental access (mobile unit) services in LTC facilities. <br />Objective #99: Establish a committee to pursue the proctirement of the funds <br />(grants/corporate gifts) necessary to obtain an Access (Mobile) Dental Unit to serve <br />Grange County and Region J. (Goal IV-A) <br />Accomplishment: Procured grant monies to obtain/operate a dental access mobile unit <br />in Orange Coun[y. A van and equipment have been obtained A dentist has been found. <br />The program will hopefully begin in 2006, <br />I7nmet Objectives _ Dental Services for Long Term Care <br />Obiecfive #100: Begin operation of mobile Dental Access Unit for senior residents in <br />Orange County, Chatham and Durham counties, with priority given to long term care <br />facilities (2002), Senior Centers (2003) and homebound (2004). (Goal IV-A) <br />Comment: Delayed because offunding. Procured grant monies to obtain/operate a <br />dental access mobile unit in Orange County. A van and equipment have been obtained, <br />A dentist has been found. The program will hopefully begin in 2006. <br />Objective #101: Promote good oral health, nutrition and disease prevention via <br />community outreach program and senior centers. (Goal IV-A) <br />Comment: Lack of stafj time and resources, <br />Objective #102: Provide in-service instruction in oral hygiene procedures to long term <br />caze facility personnel. (Goal IV-A) <br />Comment: Lack of staff time and resources. This training will be provided to facilities <br />that conh•act with the ACCESS Dental program, <br />21 <br />
