~~ <br />Obiective# 3: Implement a marketing and community awareness campaign to promote <br />existing Information and Assistance services: (Goal I-A) <br />Information acid Help Line--968-2087; <br />Orange County Information Guide, <br />Orange County Website <br />United Way's 211 Telephone Initiative <br />Accomplishment: The resource guide and the Information and help line have <br />been publicized in the Senior Tirnes, in a monthly Chapel Hill Herald article <br />written by the Information and Assistance Specialist, and on In Praise of Age, <br />Additionally, Eldercare staff routinely refers community members and aging <br />and healthcare professionals to the resource guide online. The United Way 211 <br />telephone initiative was implemented United Way advertised in newspapers and <br />with magnets and,Jlyens. The information and assistance specialist distributed <br />this information and materials to all senior centers and meal sites. <br />Obiective #4: Implement an evaluation plan to gauge the effectiveness of the <br />marketing strategies regazding "How people hear about it," (Goal I-A) <br />Strategies-promote such media as: <br />- Radio and television <br />- Community publications: Senior hiving, Senior Times, Triangle <br />Pointer, Chamber of Commerce literature <br />- Place in pharmacies, physicians' offices, health clinics, <br />churches/synagogues/temples, health department offices, senior <br />centers, and DSS offices. <br />- Place on OPT and Chapel Hill buses, <br />Accomplishment: Partially achieved. RSVP, JTyler, and Student Intern; An evaluation,form <br />has been developed to gather client information and level of satisfaction with Senior Center <br />opportunities. Other evaluations developed target specific programs such as Senior Net <br />computer classes taught by seniors for senior and RSVP-VITA the free tax preparation prograrn. <br />Unmet Information and Assistance Objectives <br />Obiective #5: Design, update and evaluate (e.g, number of hits and user comments) the <br />county web site to include information available in the Orange County Information Guide <br />(monthly updates). (Goal I-A) <br />Comment: In 2005 Information Technology Department has transferred the website <br />updating responsibility to each county deparment. The Department on Aging has designated <br />a webmaster who is now in the process of being trained to do all updating. <br />ObiecHve #6: Develop multi-lingual, culturally sensitive versions of the website and <br />Community Caze Guide. (Goal I-A) <br />Comment: Not done due to lack of sta, ff and low priority due to. few senior Latinos at this time.. <br />Obiective #7: Provide access to the Internet at public community facilities: libraies, senior <br />centers, Southern Human Services Center. (Goal I-A) <br />Strategy: Start a giving campaign that encourages I1NC, private <br />businesses, and county government to donate computer equipment to <br />the Orange County Senior Centers and other public facilities, <br />Comment: Partially achieved, Access at county libraries and only one senior center- <br />Chapel Hill Senior Center. <br />
