~~~- a ~~ <br />ORANGE COUNTY MASTER AGING PLAN - 2000-2005 <br />LISTING OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND UNMET OBJECTIVES <br />Prepared by Jerry Passmore, Dept. on Aging Director <br />March, 2006 -Update <br />The Master Aging Plan (M.A.P..) for 2000-OS covered ten major goals that focused on the <br />general population, baby boomers, special functional groups and planning issues. There <br />were 126 specific objectives that attempted to achieve these goals. Because of the large <br />number of objectives and limited time and resources to accomplish them all, the Boazd of <br />County Commissioners requested that they be prioritized by the County Advisory Board on <br />Aging throughout the five-year period, For easy identification, each objective has been given <br />a unique number and at the end of each in parentheses is the goal number it addresses. <br />Following the M.A,P. outline, the objectives have also been group to those accomplished to <br />some degree, as well as unmet objectives. <br />I. The General Population of Older Persons <br />GOAL I-A: To improve access to services, information & assistance, and <br />social activities for all older persons in Orange County. <br />Accomplishments -Information and Assistance <br />Objective #l: Update, redesign and publish the existing Orange Co~mty Information Guide <br />twice per yeaz and evaluate its use. (Goal I-A) <br />Accomalishment :DOA L'ldercare staff updated the care guide in summer/fa112001, it was <br />redesigned by a professional in DecJJan. 2002, and is currently available online through the <br />OCDOA webs•ile at h~://ivu~iv.co.orcuzQe.nc.zrs/crQin~/elderccrre.ndj The 2006 Cruide has heen <br />placed on county web in Dec., 200.5 and SOOprinted copies to be available Feb.,2006. No. formal <br />evaluation done on arse. <br />Objective #2: Place hard copies of the Orange County Information Guide in health <br />and social service provider agencies (public and private), monitoring and <br />evaluating access points such as phazmacies, physicians'offices, dental offices, <br />health clinics, churches/synagogues/temples, health department offices, UNC <br />Work Life Office, senior centers, and DSS offices, (Goal I•-A) <br />Accomnlisbment: (Multi-,yeaz continuation objective 2001 - 2005) <br />The Orange County Information Guide is available online at <br />httn'//wwtiv.co.orange.nc. us/aging/eldercare.pdf but due to state and county hudgetary <br />consb•aints, hard copies of the Guide will not be distributed widely until additional resom°ces <br />are available, Hard copies were printed by a grant through Pfizer and distributed at a <br />IJniversiry of North Carolina conference on memory in September 2002. Hard copies have been <br />dish•ibuted to senior centers and selected sites, including law enforcement officers a»d other <br />frrst responder attendees at a training about elder mish•eahnent. The new Guide, for• 2006 will <br />be published in February with agency ads to help cover the cost ofprinting 500 copies for <br />distribution, approx. $4500. Currently, the Guide is distributed at no cost <br />
